TOMO Forest School is an established setting that has been hosting groups of school children since 2016.
We are easily accessible on the B4363 from Much Wenlock, Church Stretton, Ludlow, Shrewsbury and Telford.

At TOMO, we know that for many children, the environment in which they learn is just as important as what they learn. That is why we created The Granary: a purpose-designed indoor learning space that provides a calm, predictable and highly neuro-inclusive environment where children can feel safe, comfortable and ready to engage.

The Granary sits at the heart of our provision. While most of our learning is enriched by time spent on the farm or in the woodland, we recognised the importance of having a dedicated indoor space where children can focus, reflect and undertake more formal curriculum work. It provides a sanctuary during inclement weather, but more importantly, it offers a consistent base where children can regulate and learn.

The Granary reduces many of the sensory and social demands that can make traditional classrooms overwhelming. Thoughtful use of space, flexible seating, low-arousal design principles and carefully considered routines help children feel at ease and able to engage on their own terms.

The Granary plays a vital role in our educational model. We believe children learn best when they feel safe, understood and free from unnecessary pressure. However, a low-demand environment should never be confused with low expectations. The Granary enables us to strike the balance between maintaining a nurturing, relationship-based approach while delivering the academic rigour that every child deserves.

It is here that bespoke curriculum programmes are brought to life. Every learning pathway is carefully planned and tailored to the individual child, ensuring that teaching is both ambitious and relevant. Whether a pupil is rebuilding confidence after a period of school avoidance, preparing for reintegration into mainstream education, or following a longer-term personalised programme, The Granary provides the structure and resources needed for meaningful academic progress.

More than a classroom, The Granary is a place where children can rediscover themselves as learners, experience success, and develop the confidence to take their next steps forward. It represents our commitment to providing an environment that is both compassionate and ambitious, where wellbeing and achievement work hand in hand.

Our Forest School site is used to nurture resilience, risk-taking and engagement. Within our woodland, we have many interactive areas including the log bridge, a slippery slope, and the secret stream. These natural features invite children to be curious whilst simultaneously improving physical confidence, resilience and bravery.

Certain tasks, such as those undertaken in tool time, help to improve problem-solving and fine motor skills. Completion of an activity often demonstrates tangible success which encourages a feeling of pride in their work: "Come and see what we've built together!"

This farm site is especially useful to link curriculum learning to practical tasks and real-life scenarios. Learning becomes interactive since children can visit the animals and observe them in the field whilst discussing their role in the ecosystem, or we can look at the sustainable farming practises and the balance between nature and agriculture.

On the Millichope Estate, we have a herd of organic Longhorn Cattle, native rare-breed pigs (both Gloucestershire Old Spot and Tamworth), and also a small group of Exmoor Ponies.
